Towards the end of 2016, the Rings Beach Wetland Group were invited to submit an entry in the Community Group category for an annual awards competition hosted by the New Zealand Plant Conservation Network.
The entry was successful and the certificate was awarded at a ceremony in Wellington in October 2016 attended also by Coromandel MP Scott Simpson.
